*Last updated: May 2026* These policies apply to tutoring arranged through Hunter Tutoring. Published rates are on the pricing page. Specific arrangements may be confirmed on your consultation call.
Sessions and scheduling
- After your application is accepted, you may book a **free consultation** and, when agreed, **tutoring sessions** through our booking page (online scheduler).
- Session length is billed in **15-minute increments** with a **15-minute minimum** and a **4-hour maximum** per session, as described on the pricing page.
- **Online** sessions use video (typically Zoom); the meeting link is on your calendar invite when you book online.
- **In-person** sessions are offered in the **Greater Portland, OR** metro; meeting location is confirmed when you book or on your consultation call. Listed in-person rates include a **$10/hr travel fee** for the metro.
- **Group tutoring** (2–5 students) uses per-student rates on the pricing page. The booking contact pays the total for the group (per-student rate × group size × session length).
- Recurring schedules (for example weekly, every two weeks, or twice per week) are set up through the scheduler when available, or confirmed by email.
Short-notice (rush) bookings
When a **paid** tutoring session is booked with limited advance notice — measured as the time from when the booking is confirmed to the **scheduled session start** — the following applies on top of the published rates for that session (including group math where applicable):
- **16–24 hours** before start: **+20%** on the session total. - **8–16 hours** before start: **+40%** on the session total. - **Under 8 hours** before start: **+75%** on the session total, **or** we may **decline** the booking at our discretion if we cannot accommodate it fairly.
Rush premiums are separate from the cancellation policy below. If a rush rate applies, we confirm the total with you (by email or as noted on your invoice) before treating the session as finalized. Recurring weekly slots agreed in advance are not “rush” simply because an occasional reschedule falls inside these windows unless we say otherwise in writing.
Payment
- **Preferred methods:** **Zelle** (618-401-4880) or **Venmo** (@Forrest-Hunter). We do not collect card payments on this website.
- Use the pricing calculator for your session total based on level, online vs in-person, and duration.
- Include the **invoice #** (from your session email/SMS), **student name**, and **session date** in your Zelle or Venmo payment memo — this enables automatic payment recognition.
- When we receive your bank or Venmo payment alert, matching sessions are marked **Paid** automatically. You can still mark paid manually from your tutor email if needed.
- Published hourly rates apply to new clients unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Graduate-level work may be quoted individually on consultation.
Cancellations and rescheduling
- Please provide **at least 24 hours' notice** to cancel or reschedule a session.
- With adequate notice, we will work to find another time at no charge.
- **Late cancellations** (less than 24 hours) or **no-shows** may be billed for the reserved session time, except in cases of genuine emergency — contact us as soon as possible.
Missed sessions
If a student is more than 15 minutes late without notice, the session may be shortened to fit the remaining time or treated as a no-show per the cancellation policy above.
